This webinar is designed to support special guardians to understand the importance of family time (previously known as contact) with birth family. Steph discusses how positive family time can shape a child’s identity and eases them into understanding their sense of belonging to two families. She talks about how to establish contact, plan, review and make it positive, covering how to support all those involved in family time and recognise the importance of connection, communication and honesty around this sensitive subject. Steph also covers what to do when contact doesn’t go according to plan and how to get help.
Independent Senior Social Worker
Steph has been a social worker for over 15 years and has worked with looked after children for over 20 years.
Her previous experience spans a wide range of settings to include being a nanny, a residential worker for children and teenagers, a Family Centre Worker completing preventative and child protection work, a Social Work Assistant, Child Protection Social Worker, Permanence Social Worker, HIV Social Worker and several Independent Fostering Agencies.
Steph is currently a Senior Supervising Social Worker for an Independent Foster Agency where she has been for the past 5 years.
