A warm welcome to St Andrew’s Children’s Society – Expanding CATCH’s reach to Scotland!

We are delighted to welcome St Andrew’s Children’s Society to CATCH – the Children And Trauma Community Hub! This marks an exciting expansion for CATCH, extending our network of support to Scotland.

St Andrew’s Children’s Society is a voluntary adoption and foster care agency based in Edinburgh and Aberdeen, with a steadfast commitment to providing loving homes for children in need. The organisation aligns perfectly with CATCH’s mission to connect and empower those dedicated to improving the lives of children affected by trauma.

Supporting children and young people in Scotland

St Andrew’s Children’s Society offers a range of vital services in Scotland, including:

  • Adoption: providing comprehensive adoption services, including preparation, support, and therapeutic care for families and children. They are dedicated to finding safe, nurturing homes for children of all ages and backgrounds.
  • Fostering: offering comprehensive training and ongoing support to foster carers, ensuring that children in their care receive the love and stability they need. They provide regular visits, access to support groups, and guidance to help carers navigate the unique challenges of fostering. In addition they offer a continuing care service to young adults who are no longer ‘looked after and accommodated’ but who need to remain in the care of their foster carers until at least 21 years of age.
  • Concurrent Care: An innovative approach that provides a foster care home to a young child while rehabilitation is explored. If the child does not return home, the foster carers will then apply to adopt the child, so preventing any change of primary care-giver before permanence through adoption is achieved.

Building strong families together

We are eager to collaborate with St Andrew’s Children’s Society and support their invaluable work in building strong and nurturing families across Scotland. By joining CATCH, Children’s Society gains access to a wider network of resources, expertise, and support, further enhancing their ability to make a positive impact on the lives of vulnerable children.

Ray Vernon, Digital Partnership Executive at Parents And Children Together (PACT), the adoption and trauma recovery charity which developed CATCH, shared his enthusiasm for this new partnership:

“From my first meeting with Stephen Small, CEO of St Andrew’s Children’s Society, his dedication to the wellbeing of children was evident. He immediately recognised the value CATCH brings to adoptive and foster families, and we’re delighted to have Children’s Society on board to help us better serve the people of Scotland.”

A brighter future for children in Scotland

We are thrilled to welcome St Andrew’s Children’s Society to the CATCH community and are excited to work together to create brighter futures for children and families in Scotland.
