Live webinar: Supporting the transition from foster care to adoption

Helping a child move from foster care to their adoptive family is one of the most meaningful—and emotionally significant—parts of a foster carer’s role.

In this webinar Rachel explores how foster carers can play a central, positive role in making that move as safe, supportive, and successful as possible. Rachel also discusses the complex emotional impact that this work can have on foster carers and, if they have not completed this type of work before, to consider if they are willing and able to do this, working in the child’s best interests. Rachel will walk through the University of East Anglia three stage model which focuses on getting to know each other, Making the move, supporting relationships after the move and what the future can look like.

Whether you’re new to fostering or have years of experience, this session offers practical tools, real life insights, and reassurance to help you support children through one of life’s biggest transitions.

This webinar is aimed at foster carers, but may also be of interest to prospective adopters and practitioners.
