Live webinar: Staying in touch plans for siblings in adoption

Elsbeth Neil, a professor of social work at the University of East Anglia, presented our live webinar on sibling staying in touch plans.

Most adopted children have brothers and sisters, and it isn’t always possible to keep them together when one or more children are adopted. The loss of brother and sister relationships needs to be avoided where ever possible, but there are practical and emotional challenges in keeping adopted children in touch with their siblings.

In this webinar, Elsbeth explored learning from research about the sibling relationships of adopted children, and the joys, challenges and outcomes of staying in touch plans. She also covered what works in terms of planning and supporting contact between brothers and sisters, aiming for contact plans that are safe, meaningful and ideally fun and family friendly.

CATCH members are now able to watch the full webinar on the Hub.
