Renewing our partnership: Changing Futures Fostering’s not-for-profit commitment to therapeutic care

We are thrilled to announce the renewal of our partnership with Changing Futures Fostering, a dedicated, not-for-profit independent fostering agency in the North East.

This continued collaboration reinforces our shared belief that every child who has experienced trauma deserves the best possible support, delivered by empowered and highly skilled foster parents.

A distinctive model: local, therapeutic, and beyond profit

Changing Futures Fostering stands apart with a service model built on ethical and localised values:

  • Not-for-profit mission: The agency is dedicated to the well-being and best interests of the children, not making money. Any extra funds are reinvested directly back into enhancing support, comprehensive training, and expanding the resource network for their foster families. This philosophy allows them to continuously provide enhanced support and resources to their carers.
  • Therapeutic specialism: They specialise in therapeutic foster parenting, offering a complete toolkit of support, including a tailor-made ‘therapeutic’ training programme. This equips their carers with the skills and confidence to understand and respond to children who have experienced trauma.
  • Local and accessible: As a locally based agency in the North East, they ensure unrivalled support for their families. Foster parents are typically a maximum of 40 minutes away from the office base, ensuring accessibility for advice, regular face-to-face training, and vital support sessions to build community.
  • Unrivalled carer support: Foster parents receive comprehensive support, which includes a dedicated social worker (with supervision often fortnightly in the first year), 24/7 assistance in an emergency, and regular fun days out that help families bond and show appreciation. As one foster parent, Sue, shared, they “really do live by their values of being a not-for-profit agency. It is all about the carers and children.”

Evidence of Excellence: the Ofsted view

The agency’s commitment to quality is clear in their recent inspection. They are focused on placing children with foster parents who can provide the best parenting tailored to their needs. They empower foster carers with practical guidance, emotional reassurance, and 24/7 assistance to help children thrive.

The renewal of their CATCH partnership is a powerful expression of their commitment to continually invest in these resources.

Ray Vernon- Digital Partnership Executive for CATCH, shared his appreciation for the agency’s dedicated focus:

“It has been a pleasure to work with Changing Futures Fostering over the past year. We wholeheartedly support their not-for-profit status and their dedication to therapeutic care. Their model, which constantly reinvests in carers through enhanced training and support networks, is an example of best practice in the fostering sector. We are proud that CATCH remains an integral part of their resource toolkit, helping them empower their foster parents to deliver life-changing care. We look forward to our continued partnership in the North East.”

We are thrilled to continue our work with Changing Futures Fostering, supporting their mission to create lasting, positive changes in the lives of children and young people.
