Aspire Adoption supporting adopters with CATCH

Aspire logo

Aspire Adoption supports adoption across Dorset, Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole on behalf of BCP Council and Dorset Council. They also welcome enquiries from people considering adoption in nearby areas like Hampshire, Wiltshire, Devon and Somerset.

Since forming in 2017 as one of the first Regional Adoption Agencies, Aspire has been working to provide caring, high-quality support for children and families.

Their support doesn’t stop once a child is placed. Adoptive families can access ongoing help from experienced social workers, support workers and clinical psychologists to navigate challenges and build strong, healthy relationships.

Aspire also offers:

  • Counselling and information
  • Support groups and social events
  • Training and parenting courses
  • Therapeutic services funded through the ASGSF
  • Access to CATCH (Children And Trauma Community Hub)

Why Aspire partners with CATCH

Working in partnership with organisations like CATCH, Aspire is dedicated to making sure families feel supported at every stage of their journey.

They provide CATCH memberships to prospective adopters and adoptive families, giving access to a wide range of helpful resources. Aspire staff also use CATCH to support their own learning and to enhance the support they offer to families.

How to use CATCH for your training

Why use CATCH for your adopter training?

  • Download a certificate after completing a video, audio or webinar, giving you evidence of learning to take to panel.
  • Builds on your adopter training, helping you make confident and informed decisions during the matching process.
For example: if you complete a resource on sibling groups or early permanence, you’ll be better equipped to decide whether those types of matches feel right for you.
  • Deepens your understanding of adoption and the experiences that bring children to the adoption journey.
For example: explore children’s life stories, reasons they enter care, and how developmental trauma impacts emotions and behaviour.
  • Strengthens your knowledge of therapeutic parenting so you feel as prepared as possible for welcoming your new family.

Why use CATCH for parenting support?

  • Helps you anticipate and navigate common family challenges, giving you practical tools and strategies before issues escalate.
  • Deepens your understanding of therapeutic parenting and introduces new approaches you can use day-to-day.
  • Connect with other adopters through our friendly, anonymous forum, and access one‑to‑one support from trained adopter peer supporters.
  • Hear directly from other adopters, learning from real experiences and diverse family journeys.
  • Explore a wide range of resources on neurodiversity and sensory processing, helping you better understand and support your child’s needs.
  • Offers support from the toddler years through the teenage stage and beyond, guiding you across every step of family life.
