One interviewee discusses his experience of becoming a special guardian for his grandchildren and how the relationship he had with social workers developed during the process.

Andrea trained as a children’s social worker and later taught social policy and social work in universities.
Her interest in fostering grew whilst working as the Fostering Development Consultant for the British Association of Adoption and Fostering (BAAF). Project work there led to a focus on the therapeutic role food can play in fostering households, and she has written and published on this theme over many years.
Andrea founded Nifa, Children & Families Consultancy over 10 years ago. She chairs Fostering Panels across the sector and has a team of multi-disciplinary professionals who complete a range of assessments, deliver training and provide service development and improvement.
